Varied hikes await you in the region around Rosswald. Discover the Alpe Rosswald with its hidden beauties on the three marked circular hiking trails with different levels of difficulty. The old military trail of Battalion 36 “36er Weg” leads from the valley station up to the Rosswald and on to the Folluhorn.
Don’t miss the day hike from the Rosswald to the Bortelhütte. In the Bortelhütte you can enjoy excellent food and drinks during the summer months. This stage of the Alpine Passes Trail No. 6 then continues to Rothwald and the Simplon Pass.

Rosswald Bike
Facts
Reach Rosswald comfortably with the cable car from Ried-Brig and start your bike adventure directly at the mountain station. Follow the gravel road downhill to the right and after 200 metres turn right onto the varied trail that takes you back to the valley station via Resti. For a second round, simply use the gondola lift again. Combine the trail with the Gantertal Trail for an unforgettable day of biking on the Rosswald.

Facts
The Rosswald cable car takes you up to Alpe Rosswald at 1800 metres above sea level. Once at the top, there is a short ascent up the Rosswaldstrasse. You follow the forest path, which leads you steadily uphill to Alpe Schmidmatte. This is followed by a rapid descent towards Gantertal, past alpine meadows and individual alpine huts.
Follow the forest road to Schallbett. After the signpost on Napoleonsstrasse, turn right and follow the trail back to the starting point.
Saflisch Bike
Facts
Starting from Binn, the Saflisch Trail leads westwards through the Binntal valley to the Heiligkreuz junction. The tour then heads east again, where varied passages through the Binntal landscape park follow. A highlight of the first stage is the Saflisch Pass, which is reached after a challenging climb. Starting from the Saflisch Pass, the trail continues to Rosswald. This stage of the descent leads from Rosswald to Schallberg and then through the forest to Ried-Brig. In the final stage, the trail follows the new Simplon road to the Alpine town of Brig.
