Summer on the Rosswald
Summer holidays on the sun terrace
Holidays on the Rosswald sun terrace are waiting for you! The Rosswald offers you the best alpine air and a great view of the Rhone Valley.
Start from your hotel or chalet in the morning for a hike in the surrounding mountain landscape and cool your tired legs in the evening in the swimming lake on the Rosswald. For young and old, the swimming lake is a welcome place to cool off on warm summer days.
Starting from the Rosswald, you can plan adventurous day trips in the Valais and the Brig Simplon region. The Brigerbad thermal spa, the Aletsch Glacier, the Matterhorn, Lake Maggiore and many other places are worth a visit.
Golden eagle quiz – circular route with knowledge questions
The “king of the skies”, as the golden eagle is also called, is a fascinating bird of prey. You can learn a lot about the majestic bird on the circular route with quiz questions.
You will be asked various questions at a total of seven posts. Try to answer them and write the letter that matches the answer in the solution box on the back of the flyer. The flyer is available free of charge at the mountain station of the Rosswald cable cars. At the end of your hike you can read off the solution word. On the flyer you will find the route and the locations of the boards.
A journey of a different kind
Alpe Rosswald at 1,800 metres above sea level is car-free. The most comfortable way to travel to the Rosswald is by cable car from the valley station in Ried-Brig. The journey takes less than 10 minutes. The car park at the Ried-Brig valley station is free of charge in summer.
Not just hiking, but experiencing
At 1,800 metres above sea level, the Rosswald is an ideal starting point for a hike on the Alpine Pass Trail over the Saflisch Pass into the Binn Valley or for a tour to the Bortel Hut. The Simplon-Höhenweg trail via the Bortelhütte to the Rothwald offers wild and romantic views. Hikers who love steep and challenging ascents compete on the 36er trail from the valley station to Rosswald. On the Rosswald itself, three circular walks offer fantastic views of the Rhone Valley.
Biking on Rosswald: trails for every taste
The Rosswald offers several bike trails with varied passages for beginners and families, but also challenging descents for advanced riders. Rosswald is situated on a mountain ridge and is famous for its panoramic views. On Rosswald and at the valley station, it is worth stopping off at one of the restaurants.
Magic Pass holders benefit from free bike transport in the cable car.
Swimming lake, playground & fireplace
The large swimming lake directly at the mountain station offers a popular summer refreshment for visitors from the valley and provides a welcome cool-down after a hike. The playground offers various playground equipment. Measure your table tennis skills. The rackets can be rented at the top station of the cable car. The fireplace at the upper end of the Rosswald near the Suone Bergwasser is in good condition and can be used free of charge. “First come, first served” applies, thus no reservations are possible.
Adventure in lofty heights
Due to the good upwinds in summer, you take off after just a few steps and immediately feel safe in the harness. The comfortable seating position, the silent glide, the fresh air in your face and the unrestricted view of the Valais Alps will make you never forget this adventure.
More summer excursions
From the Rosswald to the Garda Museum? To Italy? To the underground lake at St. Léonarda? To the Brigerbad thermal baths with the giant slide? Or the Geschina swimming pool, which has a 1 and 3 metre diving platform?
From the Rosswald, the Valais holiday world lies adventurously at your feet. The cable car and post bus take you quickly to Brig railway station, giving you a direct connection to the public transport network.
